Verana is a secret hideaway in the mountains of Valle de Sierra. To get there is a small trek but involves a 30 minute boat ride followed by a 10 minute walk through the jungle into Verana.
This is a rustic resort with rough edges but at the same time the utmost sophistication. Palpa the most popular of the six houses has no windows, its walls are waist high, and showers and baths are outdoors. Throughout the camp electricity is limited, torch and candle light are used the majority of the time although in the kitchen they use solar power. All rooms of Verana are stylishly decorated with Mexican pieces of modern art and each has a private outdoor terrace. Nearby there are several beaches, small fishing villages and islands where you can soak up the local culture.
