Nepal was the pioneer of trekking. It has been fine tuned it to an art form that is not emulated anywhere else in the world. In the aftermath of the monsoon, the clear air provides crystalline views of the Himalayas. In spring, the high pastures are covered in flowers and there are forests of rhododendrons and azaleas. Treks vary from relatively easy three or four days to several weeks.

As a general rule, the longer the trek, the fewer tourists you will encounter. Although the standard of service and food on trek is very high, for those who prefer a roof over their head at night, there are a number of trekking lodges within an easy days walk of each other which provide good accommodation.
