





Kate started with Steppes Travel in November 2004. She has travelled extensively throughout Central and South America, including attending language school in Guatemala , running a fishing ranch in Argentina, surfing in Costa Rica and living with Kuna Indians in Panama. Kate now creates tailor-made itineraries for Latin America and has returned from fact-finding trips to Ecuador and The Galapagos Islands, Peru, Costa Rica and most recently Cuba adding to her wealth of knowledge in this part of the world.

Juan Carlos, who walked kilometres through landslides to rescue me from cut off in a hotel
What has been your most remote travel experience?
Living on the beach in an isolated part of the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica for 1 month
Most embarrassing travel experience?
Surfing a break way beyond my capabilities and not being able to paddle out - ended with the board being tossed across my face - cracking me on my nose and me having to stumble out with blood pouring from my face all in front of a number of rather 'cool' surfers
Essential item that you always take with you on your travels?
As a backpacker - a sleeping sheet. As I high end traveller with Steppes .....no need

What’s your best piece of travel advice?
Make an effort to speak the language - your travel experience will be improved ten fold.
