Sarah

After spending a month camping in Africa I well and truly caught the travel bug. All earnings went into the bank to fund my next trip away and I was lucky enough to spend two months travelling through Cambodia, Vietnam, Borneo and Thailand. Having returned home expecting to have to get some boring agency job, the chance to work at Steppes seemed too good to be true! I like to face my fears and push my boundaries, having been cage diving with Great Whites off South Africa, cliff jumping in Thailand and wading through the water above Victoria Falls in Zambia. In joining the Voyages department at Steppes, I’m hoping I may get the chance to experience Antarctica.

Favourite travel experience?
All my favourite experiences have included wildlife in some form, releasing just hatched baby turtles into the sea off the coast of Sabah, Borneo has to be equal first with walking with lions in Zambia.

Best hotel/lodge you’ve stayed in?
Basically a floating box on a raft with a bed in it on a lake in Khao Sok, Thailand.

Most remote travel experience?
Probably camping in the Okavango Delta .

Most embarrassing travel experience?
Being so desperate for a wee during a boat safari on the Chobe River, surrounded by water and everyone on the boat attempting to make it worse!

One luxury when you travel?
A pillow or my iPod.

Best travel advice?
Don’t chicken out of anything that scares you, just do it! You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Where would you like to travel next and why?
I’d love to visit Madagascar next to see all the endemic wildlife, incredible plants and scenery.
