Countries you sell?
I leave selling to the professionals, but take an active interest in the Middle East.
What has been your favourite travel experience?
A walking safari in the Okavango Delta.
The best hotel/lodge that you have stayed in?
Oddballs camp. Okavango.
What has been your most remote travel experience?
A weekend in Abemama, in what used to be the Gilbert Islands, Central Pacific. There I met a US CEO who had finally taken a few weeks off work, but in fact had kept on travelling for over a year, and had no plans to return home just yet.
Most embarrassing travel experience?
More of a memorable one- taking an ill-advised lone evening walk through a dubious area of Suva, Fiji, seeing a local think about mugging me, then change his mind. I looked round and saw a couple of alert young men just behind me, and the hint of a wink. The SAS were in the country on a jungle training exercise I recalled.
Your one luxury when you travel?
My wife.
What’s your best piece of travel advice?
Get someone to do the planning for you, then it all comes as a wonderful surprise when it falls into place.
Where you would like to visit next and why?
Sudan. I like to avoid mass tourism.
