Day 11
Anse Cochon - Hewanorra
Embark on privately guided tours of the south of Saint Lucia, taking in sights such as Soufriere and hiking the scenic Tet Paul Trail. Set within six acres of lush verdant land in the farming community of Chateau Belair, the trail features a variety of exotic fruit trees and medicinal plants and boasts stunning views of Gros Piton and Petit Piton. For a more leisurely experience, swim in a cool 80-foot cascading waterfall and have a private birding experience that can be tailored for the serious ornithologist or the casual observer.
Bathe in warm and bubbling pools of black water in the Sulphur Springs Park, created by a volcanic mountain and, for an alternative view of the rainforest, take an aerial tram ride to observe the interior canopy of Saint Lucia. Increase the adrenaline by zip lining through the canopy before heading north on a scenic journey to one of the more isolated resorts.
Don flippers and go snorkelling at two renowned marine sites along the island’s west coast – with luck, turtles, schools of sardines, parrot fish and lobsters can be seen. Owing to the islands’ volcanic nature, a spectacular array of colourful coral reefs, fascinating caverns and unexpected trenches are all discoverable in this silent underwater paradise.
With the lesser-known adventures behind you, take time to simply relax at a remote retreat that is perched atop imposing cliffs and overlooks azul waters and pristine beach. No trip to the unspoiled parts of Saint Lucia would be complete without a day or two spent on the fine dark sand of jungle-backed Anse Cochon (perhaps snacking on the local favourite oven-baked plantains) or soaking up the views in Soufriere.
