Sri Lanka Holidays
"Sri Lanka remains one of my favourite countries to travel to on holiday. This time we were lucky enough to spend a few days on the beach at Talpe near Unawatuna. Simple beach restaurants serving the freshest of seafood, sunsets to rival any I've seen in the world and beaches without a soul on them. Choosing simple accommodation, we had a deck right onto the beach and it was here I found myself watching the emerald ocean crash onto the beach only to be topped off only by a giant green turtle popping up out of the sea. It is sights like this that reminds me that the simple things in life are humbling and how fortunate we are to be able to experience such wonderful places." Holiday in Sri Lanka and enjoy the perfect combination of culture and relaxation. A week spent travelling through the beautiful, green and varied interior can be capped with a few days of relaxation on the beach. Sri Lanka is much greener than India, there are less people and, being Buddhist, there is a different atmosphere.
Sri Lanka is an excellent family destination and any holiday in Sri Lanka can be adapted to balance the cultural element with beach depending on personal requirements. Don't forget the wildlife of the island, which is rich and varied.

Sri Lanka is the perfect place for dividing your time between relaxing at the beach and visiting its historical monuments many of which are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites. Known as the Cultural Triangle they include the ancient capitals of Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura, with its sacred Bo Tree, and the 200m high Lion Rock of Sigiriya whose view from the top is a reward after the steep climb. Climb the many steps up to Dambulla Caves to see the intricate frescoes on the walls and ceilings all showing scenes from the Buddhas life and Sinhalese history.
