Off the coast of Mozambique, just inside the Tropic of Cancer, lies the tropical paradise of the Bazaruto Archipelago. A mere 20 minute motor boat ride across the channel from the town of Vilanculos on the mainland are the three islands of the archipelago lying in the middle of a marine national park. With pristine white beaches, palms, milk wood trees, sand dunes, scrubby forests, inland lakes and surrounded by crystal clear waters, these exotic islands are said to have some of the best diving in the world. You may be lucky enough to swim with dolphins or even see one of the world's rarest mammals, the dugong (sea cow). All the hotels have a full range of water sports including snorkelling, diving, deep sea fishing, sailing and cruising. There is also excellent bird watching and day trips on Arab dhows.
