This area is mainly known for its red sand dunes, which are some of the worlds largest. Further south it is possible to sleep in luxury chalets and to learn about desert life on Namib Rand, a private concession, committed to conservation in the desert.
The further south you go the more remote it becomes. Visit Fish River Canyon, a giant gash in the earth baked by an unforgiving sun. Often forgotten, it is one of Africa's most spectacular sights.
The Desert Homestead lies in a wide grassy valley, sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft mountains with a view reaching the distant dunes of the Namib Desert in the west.
A unique private entrance to Namib Naukluft Park makes Kulala Desert Lodge the closest to Sossusvlei dunes.
Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge is situated in the northern foothills of the vast, privately owned NamibRand Nature Reserve.
Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp is situated 20 kilometres from Sesriem, the Park's entrance to the Sossusvlei dunes.
