South Africa Honeymoon Itinerary

Day 1
Fly overnight to Cape Town.

Day 2
On arrival you will collect your hire car and drive to Kensington Place.

Days 3 - 4
Perched on the slopes of Table Mountain, Kensington Place is ideally located for exploring the city and surrounding attractions.

Day 5
Today you will drive to Hermanus and the regal Birkenhead House.

Days 6 - 7
Overlooking the whale watchers' paradise of Walker Bay which the majestic Southern Right whales frequent every year to calve, Birkenhead House is perfectly situated for the beach, mountain trails and breathtaking cliff path walks.

Day 8
Today you will drive to La Residence at the private wine and olive Estate of Domaines des Anges, tucked away in the tranquil vineyards of the Franschhoek Valley.

Days 9 - 10
Time to relax and enjoy your surroundings.

Day 11
Drive to Cape Town Airport and fly to Kruger, then on to Royal Malenwane to experience the joys of a bygone era!

Days 12 - 13
Sit back and experience some of the best game-viewing Africa has to offer, all while enjoying the luxury of your fantastic lodge.

Day 14
Return to London via Johannesburg.

South Africa Honeymoon Residences

Kensington Place
Located on the slopes of Table Mountain in an exclusive Cape Town neighbourhood nearby the city's main beaches and attractions, Kensington Place combines urban chic with exceptional comfort.

Voted Tatler's "Best City Boutique Hotel" in 2007, this property offers luxury suites featuring king sized beds with en suite showers or baths, large private terraces and Molton Brown amenities.

Kurland
From its situation in the exclusive seaside paradise of Plettenburg Bay, this beautiful estate is a member of Relais & Chateaux and is consistently voted one of the best hotels in the world.

Royal Malewane Safari Lodge & Spa
A member of the Royal Portfolio this breathtaking Private Nature Reserve is situated adjacent to the Kruger National Park near the border with Mozambique. Here interiors are designed with the elegance of colonial simplicity with rich wood terraces and thatched gazebos.

Each of the eight magnificently appointed suites is built in harmony with its surroundings and provides every level of luxury and privacy. A palatial air-conditioned bedroom/sitting room boasts a fireplace and antique furniture with canopied king-size bed as well as an extravagant bathroom with a window-side Victorian bath and indoor and outdoor showers.

Birkenhead House, Hermanus
Another member of the Royal Portfolio, this luxurious accommodation is placed between the Overberg Mountains and mighty Atlantic Ocean, affording spectacular, mountain and sea views. The perfect place to unwind and relax after time viewing game!

The cuisine here is world class, the wine, understandably outstanding. If you wish to wear off an exceptional culinary experience, then the walks from the property offer beautiful scenery, while swimmers can enjoy the warm waters of the adjacent beach.

From May to December the Southern Right whale graces Walker Bay with its massive presence and whale watching is an experience certainly not to be missed by those in the region during those months.

La Residence
Part of the Royal Portfolio, La Residence is nestled between the vine clustered hills of Franschoek on the celebrated Cape Wine Route.

Reflecting the splendours of a bygone era, this stunning property has been decorated in the style of a French Chateau with sumptuous antiques and opulent furnishings.

Providing an oasis for the weary traveller the service and attention to detail of La Residence, as with the other properties in the portfolio, is of a superlative nature while a stay here will prove completely unforgettable.

Cybele Forest Lodge and Health Spa
Appointed the first South African member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux chain in 1983 only goes to illustrate the attention to detail shown at this property. Situated deep in 300 acres of African paradise, this charming old farmhouse provides a romantic retreat from the outside world.

Accommodation is limited to 28 private guest suites each individually furnished and beautifully decorated. Each has a private walled garden, some with outdoor shower and wonderful views of the mountain, while six have their own generously proportioned pools.

For the ultimate in indulgence, the new Forest Suite boasts spacious rooms, a bathroom with a fireplace and television, a sophisticated audiovisual system and private heated swimming pool in landscaped gardens with stunning forest and mountain views.

Freshly picked ingredients form the backbone for the exceptional cuisine served here, complemented by fine aperitifs, wines and digestifs from the award winning wine list.

Furnished with antiques, original art and exquisite fabrics, the lodge is warm and inviting and provides the perfect base from which to explore or to where you can return after lounging by the pool, a session in the gym or the exceptional Forest Health Spa.

Garonga
The 22,000 ha Makalali Conservancy, is home to this sumptuous lodge, which offers a wholly relaxing experience in beautiful natural surroundings.

Small yet luxurious the six en suite rooms are formed from rough-plastered walls and arched canvas canopies. Each has a private deck, with hammock and indoor/outdoor showers. For a true bush experience you can choose to sleep out on a deck built in a tree overlooking a waterhole but for total exclusivity we would recommend staying in the Hambleden Suite!

This area of wilderness is rich in game and the lodge offers early morning tracking or late afternoon game drives. Safari walks are also recommended.

Makanyane Safari Lodge
Situated in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, Makanyane is privately owned and managed - a place where emphasis is placed on excellent service and first-class guiding and game viewing.

Constructed in natural stone, wood and thatch, the lodge offers spectacular views of the Marico River and the surrounding bush and its wildlife. To capitalise on the view, each of the eight suites has an open fronted lounge and a private sundeck, as well as glass-walled bedrooms and bathrooms. There is also a private sleep-out hide, deep in the bush from where you can star gaze or watch for game coming to drink.

In response to animal activity, game drives and walks can take place at any time to fully appreciate the local lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino, wild dog and cheetah, as well over 360 species of birds. What's more, Makanyane is unique in the Reserve as it has its own private traversing area - 1,800 hectares of bush on accessible to the camp's guests.

Leadwood Lodge
The western part of the prestigious Sabi Sand Game Reserve is home to this intimate lodge.

Here just four suites, rustic meets contemporary in superb harmony; with crushed stone, dark meranti, rough granite and glass, balanced by soft furnishings and modern comforts. Each suite has a fireplace, sitting room, spacious bathroom and private pool.

The elevated dining and seating areas offer panoramic riverside views while dinner is served in enchanting settings adding romance to magical African evenings.

Jock Safari Lodge
Situated in the world famous Kruger National Park, Jock Safari Lodge was one of the very first privately owned camps in the world.

Each suite is discretely situated in order to enhance a feeling of privacy within nature and boasts private outdoor lounge and plunge pool, and furnishings reflecting the regions distinctive blend of regional cultures.

Reputedly the best place to see the Big Five, at dawn and dusk guests are invited to follow paths through the bush to discover unspoilt wilderness and breathtaking wildlife.

Return to camp to relax in the Lodge's scenic Spa, while therapies are also available in the relaxed atmosphere of one's own room.

Five minutes further on you will find Little Jock, where three luxurious suites offer all the comforts and amenities one can expect from a five star private lodge. Here your personal game ranger will take care of all your game drives and bush encounters, alternatively you can choose to relax by the Lodge's pool or make use of the Spa at the main lodge.

Thanga Beach Lodge
South Africa's last true beach wilderness, Thanga Beach Lodge nestles into the vegetation overlooking the beach in Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, Northern Kwazulu-Natal.

Twelve romantic suites boast Robinson Crusoe chic, a rustic heaven, yet with every whim catered for.

Days can be spent whiling away time at the sea spa or castaway bar while, for the more active, guided snorkelling, scuba diving, birding, canoeing, cruising, turtle tracking and fishing are all on offer.

Boulders Lodge
Situated in the Sabi Sand Reserve, an area known for prolific wildlife and exclusive game viewing, Singita Boulders sits quiet, simple and luxurious.

A celebration of textiles in harmony with nature and the surrounding wilderness, your private suite at Singita Boulders offers you the perfect bush sanctuary. Natural elements have been used to create an effortless space that marries luxury with rustic, enhanced by the large private deck and outside area.

Sitting on the Sand River the lodge's large windows allow for game viewing from the comfort of your luxury suite. Alternatively the main lounge, with its open plan thatched living area offers fantastic views across the plain and ample opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Of course, game drives are a must across the 63,000 hectares of pristine bush, home to the Big Five and an abundance of big cats.

Lebombo Lodge
Located in an unspoilt private concession in the world famous Kruger National Park, this lodge sits in splendid isolation yet boasts every luxury imaginable.

Glass-walled suites allow you to truly appreciate the dramatic landscape with cutting-edge contemporary styles mixing with the natural elements of Africa's surrounding wilderness. Outside, a large wooden deck allows you the space to contemplate the endless landscape.

The open-air lounge blends grass, wood and steel, wrapping around the turquoise green of the extended pool and outdoor seating area.

From here you can set out to find the Big Five as well as wealth of plant and animal species. Furthermore, the area is home to a large pride of lions known as the Mountain Pride, adding to the boasting of the guides that Lebombo is one of the most pristine wilderness regions to be found in Africa.

Londolozi
Established in 1926 and newly refurbished, Londolozi is the result of four generations of one family's ownership and thirty years of ecotourism operations.

A heavenly sanctuary in the heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, from here you have the opportunity to experience spectacular game viewing with exceptional leopard sightings.

Three Private Granite Suites mirror the extrusion of granite rocks that flank the camp, conveying the raw essence of Africa.
