Songwe VillageSongwe Village Lodge Exterior
This stunning and unique lodge is perched 120m or 400 feet above the Zambezi Gorge, just a short drive from the falls. Accommodation at Songwe Village is in eight thatched traditional styled en-suite huts, each named after one of the deceased chiefs of the Mukuni people. In addition, there are three separate bathrooms and a library, each offering spectacular views of the river.

A trip on board an ox cart to the Songwe Village museum reveals remarkable evidence of human in the form of ancient stone tools and artefacts. At nearby Mukuni Village, more recent history comes to life, as you stand under the tree where David Livngstone met the present chief's ancestors about 150 years ago. You will see traditional skills such as woodcarving and grain pounding still being carried out. Whether you're fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, bungee jumping or contemplating the meaning of life, the aim of Songwe Village is to stretch your mind as well as your body.
