In Sanskrit Shreyas means total excellence and this quiet sanctuary, situated in 25 green and leafy acres outside Bangalore, is dedicated to enabling material and spiritual excellence by introducing guests to yoga. Excellent rooms and cottages, decorated simply but with impeccable taste, are scattered around the grounds and it is a place as beautiful to observe by day as it is by night, when softly lit by candles. Quiet, contemplative sitting areas are to be found throughout the gardens whilst the gym, walking trails, a gorgeous swimming pool, and the opportunity to collect and learn to cook your own vegetables will provide a diversion for the more active. The essence of Shreyas is the concept of wellness of the mind, body and soul whilst the aim is to show people that anyone can do yoga; that it's not scary; that you don't have to be fit or holistic or spiritual; and that you don't have to sleep on a straw mat in a mud hut!
