Deep inside Uganda's Western Rift Valley is the Semliki Valley, a prime conservation area of which much is untouched. The area boasts a National Park and a Wildlife Reserve. The Semliki Valley Wildlife Reserve (formerly called Toro Game Reserve) is the oldest protected area in Uganda. Here is where East Africa meets West, tropical rainforest meets grassy savannah. The diverse habitat is a natural haven for a huge array of fauna including lion, leopard, elephant (both savannah and forest species) buffalo, several communities of chimpanzees along with a staggering number of birds including the rare shoebill stork.
