Sanyati Lodge is situated on the southeastern shores of Lake Kariba at the mouth of the Sanyati Gorge and adjacent to the Matusadona National Park. The lodge nestles against the steep hills of the Matusadona mountain range overlooking the vast expanse of Lake Kariba. To get to Sanyati Lodge guests transfer from Kariba Marina across the lake by boat, a journey of approximately 45 minutes. Natural stone walls, indigenous timber and traditional African thatch roofing allow this well designed lodge to merge into the beauty of the surrounding environment. Privately situated and overlooking the lake each of the 2 suites and 9 individual lodges has French windows that open onto timber viewing decks. Inside, pale natural fabrics combine with wrought iron and local basket weave to create cool, relaxing interiors. Each lodge has an air conditioner, fan, mini bar, an en-suite bathroom with feature bath and outside shower. In a tranquil, shady grove with a wonderful view across the lake the main lodge complex comprises a lounge, dining area, library, wine cellar, bar, secluded television lounge with satellite television, curio shop and swimming pool. During your stay you will have an opportunity to explore the surrounding terrain. Qualified and experienced guides are on hand to escort you on game walks, drives and lake cruises in and around the Matusadona National Park. Lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo and zebra all roam freely in the National Park and there is the possibility of seeing the rare black rhino. In addition there is prolific birdlife including Goliath heron great white egrets, grey heron, fish eagle and open bill storks. Fishing tackle is available for those guests wishing to experience the challenge of fishing for tiger fish and bream.
