Since the days of Genghis Khan, Mongolia has been a land of horsemen and the small, tough, wiry Mongolian pony is the very backbone of nomadic life and the main form of transport. While it is by no means essential for the traveller to ride, it is undoubtedly one of the best ways to see the country, whether admiring the views at a steady walk or experiencing an exhilarating flat out gallop across the open steppe. Two of the best areas for riding are Hovsgol and the Altai but it can be arranged anywhere and camel riding is also possible in parts of the Gobi. We can cater to a range of riding standards though we do ask that any client wishing to ride has at least some previous experience.
