The Red Sea borders the Gulf of Suez and the Eastern Desert. The Red Sea is famous for its turquoise waters and proves to be a favourite for divers and snorkellers alike. Hurghada is the main centre for watersports, and whilst it is not the most attractive town in Egypt, no-one can deny that the beauty of the water more than makes up for the ugliness on land.

Hurghada can be reached by daily flights to and from Cairo, and is but a short drive from Luxor. There is also a ferry that operates between Hurghada and The Sinai, however, this is operated at the mercy of the seas, and so is often cancelled.

There are now some fantastic hotels in Hurghada, with the new Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh being the very best. Staying in Hurghada at the end of your holiday could be the perfect way to completely relax before heading back to your home. You don't have to be a diver to enjoy the underwater sealife, in fact, many people prefer snorkeling. However, if you wish to pursue a PADI course, then you will find many reputable operators willing to help you.
