Located on an expanse of beach wilderness on the northern tip of Zanzibar, and protected by a coral reef, Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel is an ideal location for all forms of water sport, or merely relaxing in the temperate water while soaking up the equatorial sun.
The Ras Nungwi hotel is built from hand-cut fossilised coral limestone and other natural materials. An eco-sensitive approach has ensured that the delicate balance of land and sea, flora and fauna has been preserved. Natural materials have been used wherever possible, including makuti (palm leaf) roofing over all structures to create the feeling of freedom that is only possible in an open-air environment.
The relaxed atmosphere at Ras Nungwi is accentuated by a variety of lounging areas located in different parts of the hotel. All rooms are tastefully furnished and decorated in ethnic style with use of local fabrics such as khangas, kikois and kitenges. Lodge rooms have a garden view, and all types of chalet room have a sea view, with the higher category rooms being closest to the beach.
