Quinta de Halicarnassus, Nerul

A rich colonial history influences contemporary Goan culture and architecture. Quinta de Halicarnassus was built with the intention of recreating a Portuguese-Goan villa whilst giving it the feel of an English country home. This very comfortable and extremely spacious residence is set just beyond the quiet village of Nerul and only a few minutes walk from the popular Coco Beach. Close by are Candolim, Anjuna and Baga, with their wide variety of restaurants and shops, whereas Panaji, Goa's capital city, is a scenic twenty minute drive away. The nearby Reis Fort is a beautiful historical site and an excellent viewpoint over the area.

Set amidst lush fields of agricultural farmland, the property is approached on a red dirt, tree lined road that reaches into the tropical gardens surrounding the house. A wide Parsi style verandah runs around the villa and opens onto a kidney shaped swimming pool with large sun deck. All the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with high ceilings and large windows opening onto bright green fields, palm trees and the beach beyond.

Delicious recipes created by the villa's owner, herself a gourmet cook and food writer, and are prepared to perfection by the cook. They draw inspiration from Indian, Goan, Italian and even Thai cuisine.

The villa is approximately a one hour drive from Goa airport.
