Puku Ridge Tented Camp has 6 tents, sleeping up to 12 people, overlooking a vast danbo (seasonal floodplain) on the edge of the Luangwa River. The rich soils and nutritious grasses that grow on the danbo attract large concentrations of Puku, impala, zebra, buffalo and hippo. This in turn attracts the big cats - lion and leopard sighting are common. Accommodation at Puku Ridge Tented Camp is in 6 large Hemingway-style safari tents with integrated bedroom and bathroom with toilet, private inside and outside showers and a bath giving uninterrupted views of the plains. The tents are large enough to boast beds, comfy seating, and a timber deck. Well-lit pathways cleared of undergrowth connect the tents to the main bar/lounge. The natural vegetation has been left as undisturbed as possible. Puku Ridge Tented Camp offers a full range of game drives in South Luangwa National Park using open four-wheel-drive vehicles driven by a knowledgeable guide conducted in the morning and evening, with night drives and guided walks also available. Game to be seen includes elephant, lion, leopard, wild dog, buffalo and giraffe. Due to the proximity to wild and dangerous animals, only children aged 12 years and above are accepted at this camp.
