Nuri is one of the royal cemeteries of Kush and has a number of weather beaten and crumbling pyramids that have a charm of their own. Nuri was adopted as the site of the royal cemeteries in the early seventh century BC with the great king Taharqa, probably the most powerful Sudanese ruler, being the first to be buried there. Unsurprisingly Taharqa'a pyramid is the largest at Nuri.
Nuri is on the opposite bank of the Nile from Karima. Cross the Nile in a small local boat and then jump into the back of a pick up and drive through palm groves and fields until you come to Nuri.
