Huaorani leader gets conservation award

Steppes Discovery works with numerous partners around the world so we are always excited when one of our partners is recognised for their hard work. We are therefore very pleased that Moi Vicente Enomenga Mantohue, a Huaorani leader who has worked endlessly towards the development and conservation of both Huaorani culture and the environment in which they live is to be awarded, in June, a National Geographic/Buffet Award for Leadership in Conservation in Latin America and Africa.
Amongst other things Moi has been instrumental in setting up the Huaorani Ecolodge in Quehueri’Ono within the Yasuni Biosphere in the Ecuadorian Amazon. You can join Steppes Discovery on a trip to Huaorani Ecolodge, learn about the Huaoranis, their culture and environment and learn about the efforts being made to conserve this biologically diverse region of the Amazon Rainforest.
