Wari Tombs just discovered at Espiritu Pampa, Peru

An incredible find has just been excavated by archaeologists working on Espiritu Pampa, the last refuge of the Incas, in the Vilcabamba region in Peru. Incidentally this is where we have a group trip departing in September, led by Hugh Thomson.
Not one but nine tombs belonging to the Wari culture, Lord of the Vicas, pre-Inca civilisation have just been discovered. It is thought that the great Lord of Wari has been unearthed due to the impressive artifacts buried in his tomb.
This impressive find provokes experts to re-think the past and they express that this discovery is as important as the discovery of the lost city of Machu Picchu or even the Lord of Sipan in the north.
A y-shaped chest plate (silver), two bracelets with feline figures (gold), a mask (silver) and two silver laminated wooden walking sticks were found and these are now housed at the National Institute of Culture in Cusco, Peru.
A wonderful discovery to commemorate the centenary year of Machu Picchu's discovery, in fact Hiram Bingham past Espiritu Pampa in 1911.
