Gorilla Twins Born in Rwanda

Rwanda Mountain Gorillas

On the 3rd February in the Parc National des Volcans, Rwanda, a female Gorilla called Kabatawa, part of the Hirwa group, gave birth to twins. This is a major event as Gorilla females normally only give birth to a single baby every four years. Since Diane Fossey started monitoring Gorillas in Rwanda in the 1960s this is only the 5th pair of twins born in the country.

The Hirwa group is one of six groups of habituated Gorillas which you can visit, permit depending, in the Parc National des Volcans, Rwanda. You can join our Kingdom of the Gorilla trip or visit the country on a tailor made basis. Ask us for more details.
