East coast of Sri Lanka re-opens

Following years of conflict the Sri Lankan’s are celebrating a new dawn of free travel within their own country. Following the reconstruction of roads Nilaveli and Trincomalee are now open to tourists, both domestic and from abroad. Clients can now enjoy a holiday that combines a few days in the Cultural Area such as Anuradhpaura and Sigirya followed by a few days on the East Coast where you’ll find some of the best snorkeling and diving in Sri Lanka. Trincomalee has a wonderful natural harbour and Nelson claimed it to be ‘the finest harbour in the world’, following his visit there in 1775 as a midshipman.
The best time to visit Eastern Sri Lanka is May to October.
