Incident in Kigali 19 February 2010
Statement from Steppes agent – Volcano Safari – 22/2/2010 at 15:12

There have been press reports of an incident near the bus station in Kigali last week in which there appears to have been injury to people and some damage to property. The government is investigating the incident and will release further information when it becomes available. Meanwhile security has been increased and the area has returned to normal. Businesses are operating normally in Kigali and travel in and out of Kigali is running normally and travelers are proceeding with safaris as planned. Volcanoes Safaris is monitoring the situation and will release updates as required.

Please note the Foreign office has also been updated in the last hour with the following update; This advice has been reviewed and reissued with an amendment to the Summary (grenade attacks in Kigali. The overall level of the advice has not changed; we advise against all travel to some parts of Rwanda and against all but essential travel to other parts of Rwanda.

Should anyone be concerned about Steppes Travel clients in Rwanda or planning to travel to Rwanda they can contact Steppes Travel on 01285 880980 and ask for James Armitage who will be coordinating any enquires.
