Top 10 new species of the decade

As the Cancun talks have come to close it is clear that forests are an important part of controlling climate change. Beyond this another benefit to protecting and replanting forests means maintaining habitats for various animals, some of which may not have even been discovered yet. Though we often hear about species disappearing and the ever increasing number making it on the endangered list there are also numerous new species being discovered all the time. From a rare species of Pygmy Sloths found on a solitary mangrove island off the coast of Panama to “walking” sharks found in the waters off of West Papua, Indonesia, scientist from Conservation International are listing their Top Ten new species from the past decade in Decade of Discovery on Tuesday 14 December at 20:00 on BBC2
