A travel expert has spoken of the endless adventures and "environmentally friendly destination experiences" which can be had by those holidaying in the Oman.

Officially called the Sultanate of Oman, this Asia jewel is a must-visit for any traveller looking for a holiday that is out of the ordinary.

Mona Tannous, an official at the ministry of tourism in Oman, said: "No matter the choice of experiences Oman is a year round destination to be savoured unhurriedly."

She added it is an ideal holiday destination, not only because of its sandy beaches and sunny climate but its cultural offering.

"What makes Oman even more special is the country's unique culture, its ancient treasures and myths and the environmentally-friendly destination experiences," she said.

"One day you could be snorkelling in the warm waters of the Arabian Gulf, enjoying a sunset camel trek in the desert or luxuriating at a five-star resort."
