Travellers planning Cambodia holidays will benefit from the opening of Asia's very first centre to preserve local bear populations.
This week conservationists in Cambodia cut the ribbon on the Bear Discovery Centre which they hope will highlight the plight of the animals to foreign visitors.
Mary Hutton, chairwoman and founder of the Australia-based Free the Bears Fund, told AFP: "It is so important because not so many bears are left in the wild."
She added that Sun bears in particular are on their way to becoming an endangered species as they are hunted in large numbers across the country.
Cambodia's wildlife is abundant but it is not just the animals which attract so many travellers to this beautiful land.
It is particularly suitable for adventurers hoping to get active - with jungle treks, rafting down the Mekong river and admiring the Angkor temples the orders of the day.
Cambodia is also renowned for its varied culinary dishes with local delicacies including everything from deep fried spider to tasty noodles.
