Officials from Malaysia have announced that they will celebrate a recent World Heritage Site admission with a city-wide run.
The city of George Town, which is located in the province of Penang, will host the run to celebrate its entry into UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.
Ang Chen Chun, organising secretary, said: "This event will give an added boost to George Town's admission into UNESCO's listing as a World Heritage Site recently."
The city has been awarded its World Heritage status, in part, due to its historic centre, which demonstrates a stunning blend of Asian and European architecture, taking much influence from Britain, the Netherlands and Portugal.
George Town also features some fantastic sites for travellers, including its sacred Buddhist Kek Lok Si temple and Fort Cornwallis, one of Malaysia's first British settlements.
Originally founded on swampland by Captain Francis Light - a trader for the British East India Company - in 1786, the city was recently ranked as 10th most liveable city in Asia based on air quality, health services and security among other things.
