Mauritius+awarded+another+World+Heritage+Site

The tropical African island of Mauritius has been awarded its second World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Le Morne Mountain - which is located in the island's south west - was recently recognised as being of "outstanding universal value".

The beautifully stunning La Morne Mountain is characterised by its towering 550 metre summit, overhanging caves and the tranquil turquoise lagoon found at its base.

Mauritius is located about 900 kilometres east of Madagascar and is home to must-see destinations such as the exotic Labourdonnais Orchards and the Ile aux Aigrettes, where travellers can catch a glimpse of some of the world's rarest birds.

Port Louis, the bustling capital city, also has much to offer, such as its famous fish markets, the cosmopolitan China Town and the grand St Louis Cathedral.

Travellers keen to sample the local cuisine will also be suitable impressed, with the island proudly exhibiting its Creole, Indian and Chinese origins in each and every dish.

Direct flights to Mauritius are available from both Heathrow and Gatwick London airports.ADNFCR-1391-ID-18764854-ADNFCR
