South+Africa+celebrates+Arbor+Day

The South African city of Johannesburg is readying itself for a major tree-planting celebration this Friday (September 5th).

Johannesburg Zoo will kick-off the Arbor Day festivities, which are part of week-long programme to promote the importance of tree-life to South Africa.

The country's Department of Water Affairs and Forestry will also be donating 600 trees to local schools as part of the celebrations.

South Africa is also renowned for its wildlife, with travellers to the area often catching glimpses of exotic species of lions, tigers and elephants on the country's famous safari tours.

The plains of South Africa are also home to some of the world's most endangered species, such as the black rhinoceros, the golden mole and the riverine rabbit.

Explorers who travel to South Africa's coastal capital, Cape Town, will also be able to enjoy some of the world's most beautiful beaches, along with restaurants and night-life to rival anywhere.

Direct flights to Johannesburg are available from both Heathrow and Gatwick airports in London.ADNFCR-1391-ID-18762730-ADNFCR
