Vietnam+gets+sustainable+tourism+boost+

Vietnam is to receive a huge cash injection in a bid to boost sustainable tourism in the country.

Up to £5.5 million is to be put towards setting up projects in areas which have the potential to attract eco-tourists from across the globe.

Provinces set to receive funds include Cao Bang and Bac Kan in the north, Thua-Thien Hue, Quang Binh and Quang Tri which have all been cited as likely to be popular with foreign visitors.

Part of the Greater Mekong Sub-region Sustainable Tourism Development Project, the money will be supplied by the Asian Development Bank.

The grants will be used to introduce community-based tourism projects as well as marketing the areas as must-see locations.

It is hoped that the project will reduce poverty in many of these provinces as well as help to protect some of the natural and cultural heritage they are home to.

Cultural delights in the Thua-Thien Hue region are abundant including the remains of a historic fortress on the bank of the Perfume River and the tombs of the Nguyen Kings. ADNFCR-1391-ID-18673682-ADNFCR
