Wildlife officials in India have revealed that two male rhinos have successfully been released into Manas National Park in a joint venture between Forest Department of Assam and WWF.
The news is likely to be welcomed by conservationists who fear that the number of rhinos in the area has considerably declined.
One of the biggest attractions of India to travellers is its wildlife and eco-tourists journey from across the world to observe the creatures that make their home here.
Officials are said to be keeping a close watch over the two rhinos to ensure that they remain protected.
A committee has also been established by the Forest Department which will help to oversee the security and preservation of Manas National Park.
The release of the two rhinos marks the start of a conservation programme which officials hope will culminate in 25 to 30 rhinos being brought to the nature reserve in all.
