Morocco Honeymoon

A land of genuine hospitality, you will receive an attentive and warm welcome in Morocco. Situated on the North African coast and less than 4 hours by air from the UK, the climate here is perfect for visits during Spring and Autumn when the weather is comfortable for sightseeing but warm enough for sunbathing! The scenery is one of contrasts with the stunning snowcapped Atlas Mountains, pristine desert dunes and rugged beaches of the west coast. Enjoy local markets and souqs, stay in a romantic riad in the mountains, or take a 4wd drive to enjoy the peace and timeless tranquility of the desert.

For those wanting the beach, there are endless pretty coastal villages and towns to visit. Marrakech is a must with its bustling souq and fascinating architecture while an evening spent in the main square enjoying the local handicraft and food stalls, jugglers and fire eaters, will be truly unforgettable! We recommend you stay in one of Morocco's many stylish, traditional Moroccan riads with their rich carpets, stunning mosaics and bright Moroccan lanterns.

Riad Farnatchi
Created out of five ancient riads in the heart of the oldest part of Marrakech, Riad Farnatchi has been lovingly restored to combine wonderfully decorated interiors with exceptional standards of service. Conceived originally as a luxurious private house, Riad Farnatchi can truly claim to offer the relaxed atmosphere and personal touch of a private home. With just 9 suites, it is utterly intimate for individual couples or alternatively for hiring in its entirety for a fabulous 'house party'.

Riad Farnatchi provides all the facilities and comforts of a world class hotel, designed using a fusion of traditional Moroccan and modern European designs, each suite with its own distinct style. Each room boasts handmade beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, air conditioning, central heating, satellite TV, Bose iPod docks, on-demand movies, stereo cd players, direct dial phones, WiFi and stunning interiors.

For dining, you can enjoy a candle-lit meal in the Marococo dining room, or a barbecue on the roof terrace, while for relaxing there are two sitting rooms and a roof garden with sun loungers.

After a day of sightseeing, return to the riad and enjoy the use of the Hammam with wonderful massage and beauty treatments available from fully trained specialists. For the more energetic, there is a 7m pool with an underwater jetstream for swimming. A beautiful pool and garden, situated outside the Medina, is also available for guests to enjoy.

Villa des Orangers
This delightful, old palace, situated within the walls of the ancient medina and close to the Djemma El Fna Square, has been converted into a charming hotel.

All 19 en suite rooms and suites are beautifully and authentically decorated but offer the modern comforts of air-conditioning, room service, mini bar, telephone and satellite TV.

There are two swimming pools for the guests, one with views across the medina to the Koutoubia and the other nestled in a magnificent garden beyond the medina. If you need to seek shelter from the heat of the day the courtyard offers shade beneath orange trees and cool, cushioned alcoves.

La Sultana
After two years of renovation in partnership with Historical Monuments, the stunning La Sultana, a member of Great Hotels of the World, captures the charm of luxury Riads from a bygone century. The historical atmosphere and beautiful surroundings add to the overall experience of La Sultana, which houses treasures and an art collection. The spacious terraces offer a 360 degree dazzling view set off by the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, historical attractions and Royal Palaces. At La Sultana, you'll be reminded of one of the meanings of riad... Garden of Heaven.

Talented French and Moroccan chefs create a refined medley of tastes that are influenced by Mediterranean and Oriental cuisine using fresh herbs and ingredients from the market. Look out for the delicious local specialties. Light meals and alfresco snacks are served at Terrasse du Marché, while distinguished cooking is available in the three dining rooms - Sultan, Sultana and Africa - or around the pool in the evening.

Leisure facilities include outdoor and indoor heated pools with jet stream, jacuzzi, spa, kaidal tent, misted solarium and sun lounges. Cycles are at your disposal as are books, CDs and DVDs from the library. You can play golf on one of Marrakech's three 18-hole championship courses, which are just a 10-minute drive from La Sultana, try horse-riding in the Palmeraie, hike in the pink-tinted Oukaimeden Mountains and swim in the bizarre desert countryside of Lake Takerkoust.

Amanjena
Located outside the ancient walls of Marrakech, the rose red walls of Amanjena boast Moresque arches reflected in an endless pool.

Each of the 34 pavilions and six two-storey maisons offers a wood-burning fireplace, Berber carpets, green marble bathrooms and columned bathtub. The sliding glass doors of the two-storey two-bedroom maisons open on to private swimming pools and courtyard, some spacious enough for any social occasion.

Choose to dine in the luxury of your room, in the "Moroccan" with its North African cuisine, or in the "Restaurant" with its Asian and Mediterranean flavours. Later withdraw to the bar with its smoky mirrors, leather chairs and black-marble fireplaces.

If you can draw yourself away from this magical oasis, then set out on foot or by bicycle and enjoy the souqs and palaces of ancient Marrakech, a day trip to the mountains, two neighbouring golf courses or, for skiers, the winter snows of the High Atlas.

Heure Bleue
Located at the edge of the medina, this sumptuous Moroccan town house blends effortlessly with its charming surroundings and has been renovated and decorated with great style in luxurious rich textures and colours.

The 16 rooms and 19 suites surround a central plant filled patio and are themed in Portuguese, African, Oriental and English styles, all emitting the same high standard of décor and facilities.

On site, the restaurant offers gourmet French food with a Moroccan slant. At the top of the hotel, the expansive roof terrace boasts far reaching views of the medina and the sea beyond as well as a large heated swimming pool and areas for relaxing in the shade. The riad also offers its guests a hamman with masseuse, cinema room and games room with billiard table.

Madada Mogador
Hidden behind Essaouira's dramatic ramparts, with direct access to the beach and the port, Madada Mogador offers its guests a peaceful haven in which to submerge themselves after a day of sightseeing or shopping.

The seven rooms and suites are beautifully decorated in a contemporary style of cool, calm, neutral tones while the en suite bathroom features a large bath in ivory tadelakt and double hand-basin in aged brass. What's more each room boasts a private terrace overlooking the ocean.

You can choose to take breakfast, afternoon tea or an aperitif at sunset either in your room or on the terrace. In the evening, on the ground floor the "After Five" restaurant offers a French-Moroccan experience in a refined atmosphere.

For lazy days in the sun, a stunning roof terrace offers outstanding panoramic views of the beach and sea beyond.

Dar Loulema
This tiny riad is situated overlooking Essaouira's coastal waters down narrow alleys and close to the city walls of the port area.

Situated around a central patio area with a traditional fountain, there are eight en suite rooms - some with additional living space - all individually decorated using strong local colours in Morocco's distinctive style.

Breakfast can be taken in your room, on one of the terraces or on the patio surrounding the fountain, while there is also a small restaurant on site.

Dar Mimosas
This old palace is located on the outskirts of Essaouira at the mouth of a river, surrounded by mimosas trees that were originally planted to protect the sand dunes surrounding the town.

A variety of suites are on offer, varying in size from 390 to 980 ft sq, some offering ocean and garden views with living room with fireplace and a terrace or a patio leading on to a private garden. Royal suites boast a further bedroom and a terrace leading to a large patio opening on to a private garden with fountain. Whichever you choose, each is lavishly decorated and furnished with antiques.

An "assiette piscine" consisting of local salads, tuna or smoked fish is available at lunch time, while traditional Moroccan specialties are served for dinner in the hotel's restaurant.

There is a pool for guests, located within a sheltered park and the riad has direct access to the beach beyond.

Kasbah Tamadot
Drive 45 minutes from Marrakech and escape into the foothills of the Atlas Mountains to discover this Berber gem. Discovered by Sir Richard Branson during one of his ballooning expeditions, this striking fortified building has been lovingly restored in traditional style with all the facilities of a fine boutique hotel.

There are 18 stunning rooms and suites, all offering the same exceptional, luxurious standard with the master suite, an exquisite miniature version of the Kasbah, boasting its own pool.

A tantalizing infinity pool drops over a horizon of mountain vistas and an indoor pool is at the guest's disposal during cooler weather. Two floodlit tennis courts and a gym are available for more active guests, while for those who just wish to unwind and relax the pool or rooftop terrace provides spectacular mountain views from the comfort of your sun lounger.

A traditional hamman provides the backdrop for a range of beauty treatments and massage available for hotel guests.
