Situated high in the Venezuelan Andes and founded back in 1558 is the attractive university town of Merida. Here you will find the highest cable car in the world, at a length of 12 kilometres and reaching a height of nearly 5,000m, it allows instant access to the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada National Park.
