Mateya Safari Lodge is located in a malaria-free region of South Africa's North West Province. The lodge offers an unbeatable combination of refined luxury and an exceptional safari experience in the natural beauty of the Madikwe Game Reserve. The Mateya landscape is natural and wild, with fertile plains inhabited by a large selection of game, namely the 'super seven' of buffalo, cheetah, elephant, leopard, lion, black & white rhino and wild dog as well as a vast variety of plains game and more than 350 bird species.

Mateya accommodates a maximum of ten guests in five individually designed thatch suites. These suites feature private plunge pool and a tanning sala, the perfect vantage point from which to sip chilled champagne as the game wanders towards the waterhole. Lodge facilities include the library with an invaluable, rare collection of African literature dating back to the turn of the 19th century, the treatment room, gym and business centre.

At meals times your palate is transported on a delightful journey of African fusion - a sheer gastronomic delight! The cellar yields an impressive harvest of both renowned local and rare French wines and champagnes - the perfect accompaniment to a royal feast. Meals are taken on the viewing deck, in the glass-walled dining room, by the Fire-Core, in the wine cellar, in the privacy of your own suite or an al-fresco-picnic or dinner in the bush.
