Mardouw Country House is a magnificent Cape Georgian house set in the lush wineland area between Swellendam and Ashton, on Route 60. Set in a backdrop of mountains, hills and vineyards, Mardouw provides a luxurious retreat. Mardouw is a place of many moods, both in its unique setting and environment of stylish modern architecture, African artifacts and superb contemporary art. Two enchanting suites downstairs and three intimate rooms upstairs accommodate ten guests at one time. The Superior Suite has its own lounge and dining area, as well as a private verandah that leads out to the sparkling infinity pool. The De Luxe Suite epitomizes serenity in soothing tints of sandstone and green, and has its own intimate lounge. The three rooms upstairs, each with private balcony, provide breathtaking views of the Langeberg.
Dining at Mardouw is an indulgent affair. Breakfast is served to the sound of an early chorus from the Redchested Cuckoo on the patio. Aromas of home made pastries, breads and pasta waft invitingly throughout the day, hastening one's return in the evening to enjoy tapas on the veranda while the sun sets. Dinner is a leisurely affair as the chef unveils her culinary delights - of which the home made olive ice cream is the pièce de resistance.
Mardouw offers a wide range of activities both on and around the estate. A 300m golf driving range is there for guests' use, whilst four golf clubs in the immediate area offer diverse golfing challenges. Golf car and Mountain biking available to view the estate. Scented rose garden, and herb garden - both open for guests to enjoy. Birdwatchers will enjoy viewing the herons and waterfowl, and other seasonal species that migrate to Mardouw.
