Set between two streams in a lush bushveld valley, Makana's Lodge is the most luxurious lodge within the Lalibela Game Reserve. It sleeps 20 people in 10 stone and thatch suites. Named after one of the great 19th Century Xhosa heroes who led an insurrection against the British garrison in nearby Grahamstown, Makana's Lodge honours his memory and reflects the rich history of our region.
Each 70m˛ suite at Makana's Lodge has a lounge area with large glass sliding doors on two sides which open right back, making these rooms part of the surrounding bush. Special care has been taken to ensure spectacular views from the lounge, bed and bathroom areas. Each air-conditioned suite has a viewing deck, its own private plunge pool (heated), a fully-stocked bar fridge, free internet access and 24 hour room service.
The dining and lounge areas of Makana's Lodge open up to a terrace which stretches right out over the waterhole and there is a rim-flow pool between the terrace and waterhole. You may dine outdoors under the African skies or indoors in the elegant dining room. Above the lounge, there is a secluded room with a large plasma screen for "sporting emergencies".
