In 1926 the Fowlds family began wool farming on Leeuwenbosch farm. In 1930 the building was erected as a dedicated sheep shearing shed it has now been converted to Shearers Lodge, a beautifully converted luxury lodge. Sheep farming continued until 1996 when the farm was converted to a game reserve.
The old shed, in which close to a million merino sheep were shorn, has been converted into four luxury en-suite rooms, one with a private lounge, three twins and one really special honeymoon suite. All the rooms at Shearers Lodge open on to a wide colonial verandah, overlooking indigenous gardens, rolling lawns and the quaintly charming and intimate Leeuwenbosch Chapel which was once the old stables. Shearers Lodge makes an ideal wedding venue.
