Lake Sevan Lake Sevan

Lake Seven, Armenia Mount Ararat, Central Province, Armenia
A one hours drive from Yerevan brings you to Lake Sevan. This freshwater lake of volcanic origin is situated at an altitude of about 6,500 feet, with crystal-clear water which changes colour throughout the day. Famous for its fish, it appears turquoise in direct sunlight, then turns greenish and finally becomes grey toward evening.

Among the most interesting sites are the Sevanavank Monastery which stands on a rocky peninsula jutting out into the lake and the two churches of Arakelots (The Apostles) and Astvatsatsin.
