Kinasi Lodge on Mafia Island lies a short distance off the Rufiji River Delta. The island was a regular stop for Arab and Persian traders in the twelfth century. Kinasi Lodge is a small luxury lodge for twenty guests.
Built with natural materials and traditional palm thatching, the lodge is situated on a hillside overlooking the bay and the islands of Chole, Jibondo and Juani. Large rooms are decorated with hand made furniture, each with an elevated wooden verandah shaded under thatch, private bathroom, armchairs, tables and hammocks - designed for total comfort.
Activities available at Kinasi Lodge include forest walks, picnics to inlets and secluded beaches, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, game fishing, sailing, bird watching, exploring the ancient ruins and visiting the local fishermen in the village.
