Taking its name from the Elephant Pepper trees under which the camp sits, the camp offers a classic, East Africa safari experience, with each of the 8, recently refurbished safari tents offering adventure with style.
The rooms themselves are a classic combination of dark woods and antique furniture, brass fittings and soft furnishings that open out onto a private terrace, from where you can sit and watch a tower of giraffe stroll across the plains.
Dining is a cosy and convivial affair, with the intimate bar the perfect place to enjoy pre-dinner drinks before sitting down to delicious meals, many of which use original Italian recipes passed down from the owner's mother. Moroccan lanterns and antiques in the mess tent add atmosphere, whilst taking in the views across the Mara as the moon rises.
The camp has also been the driving force behind the creation for the award winning Mara North Conservancy, providing some of the best game viewing in the Mara region, whilst working closely with the local Masai community for nearly 20 years.
Why We Like It.
Homely, elegant and atmospheric with a knack for putting guests at ease the minute they arrive, Elephant Pepper Camp is one of the original and most respected camps in the area and it shows. The staff and guiding are some of the best around, with many having been here since the start.
