For the very best Kenyan honeymoon, we would recommend a safari in the glorious Masai Mara, followed by a stay on one of Kenya's stunning beaches or on one of the beautiful islands surrounded by Lake Victoria. Alternatively, a relatively short flight can take you to Uganda for gorilla watching, Tanzania for further game or even the Seychelles for the ultimate in luxury beach holidays.

Kenya Honeymoon Itinerary

Day 1
Depart on the British Airways flight to Nairobi and your overnight stay at the House of Waine.

Day 2
Today you will be transferred to Wilson to fly to Little Shompole where you will be met and driven the short distance to the lodge.

Days 3 - 4
The variety of landscape available at Shompole allows for a great range of activities from early morning and evening walks, river kayaking trips, night drives, sundowner visits to Lake Natron to see the flamingos and romantic picnics.

Day 5
Fly to the Masai Mara where you will be met and driven to Cottars Camp.

Days 6 - 7
Two full days to enjoy the facilities and luxuries of this romantic 1920's style safari camp.

Day 8
Today you will fly to Lamu and transfer to Manda Bay.

Days 9 - 12
Surrounded by magnificent coral gardens, empty beaches and indigenous woodland, Manda Bay Resort is a glorious place to completely unwind or enjoy birdwatching and watersports including fantastic scuba diving.

Day 13
Transfer to Lamu Airport where you will fly to Wilson Airport and on to Heathrow with British Airways.

Kenya Honeymoon Camps

Cottars 1920s Mara Safari Camp
This elegant 1920's style camp is situated in the Masai Mara, bordering the Serengeti and Loliondo reserves in an untouched 250,000 acre exclusive concession providing the discerning client a guarantee of privacy and an abundance of wildlife. Voted winner of the "Best Tented Camp in The World" by both Tatler and Harpers & Queen Magazines, Cottars Safari Camp is not only stylish and comfortable but aims to give its visitors a very unique encounter with Africa.

The camp accommodates up to 12 clients in authentic white canvas tents. All are spacious and luxuriously furnished and incorporate original safari antiques from the '20's. Each boasts a main bedroom, private en suite dressing room and bathroom (with old-fashioned showers and flushing toilets) and an outdoor veranda. Offering every comfort and phenominal views this atmospheric camp brings back the romance and sense of adventure of a bygone era.

Guest can enjoy game drives guided by professional guides in either modern four wheel drive cars or the camp's old wooden car. Game viewing walks and night drives are highly recommended and allow guests to get that much closer to nature with the opportunity to track game with the camps highly trained trackers.

If you just wish to relax there is a tented reading room with an extensive array of African and modern books and magazines or you can while away an afternoon resting and viewing the most splendid panorama. On a more self-indulgent note, the camp masseuse is on hand for complimentary massages, manicures and pedicures. Any other needs that guests may have will be met by butlers who have been trained to provide guests with discreet, yet attentive service.

Joy's Camp
Built on the site of Joy Adamson's tented home, this beautiful camp lies in Shaba National Reserve, Northern Kenya, an area of arid landscape dotted with lush springs and rocky, river gauges.

Uniquely decorated with the vibrant fabrics of local nomadic tribes. Ten chic canvas bedrooms are raised off the ground overlooking a large natural spring frequented by a multitude of game including: elephant, lion, buffalo, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe and zebra. Each en suite room has its own private verandah ideal for game viewing.

Looking out to the dramatic backdrop of Shaba Hill, the terrain is perfect for game drives and the camp perfectly situated for visits to the local people of Magado Crater, trips to the local singing wells or for bush meals along the Ewaso Nyiro River and gorge. For a less energetic afternoon, lounge by the pool watching animals passing through the bushy wetland area beyond.

Elsa's Kopje
The hidden jewel in the untamed wilderness of Meru National Park, the camp is built on the site of George Adamson's first campsite and named after Elsa the lioness who featured in the book and film "Born Free".

All nine luxurious cottages are individually designed to offer complete privacy with panoramic views. For even more privacy there is a private two bedroom house complete with sitting room, dining room and pool.

With stunning views over Meru's landscape Giant Baobabs and palms interspersed with lush springs and rivers, trips from the camp will bring you into contact with the rare northern desert species of Beisa oryx, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, lesser kudu as well as elephant, lion, cheetah and leopard. Explore this landscape with guided bush walks, game drives and night game drives. Of course, bush breakfasts and bush sundowners are a must!

For a gentler pace of life, relax by the lodge's pool and enjoy the view and a relaxing massage.

Shompole
Overlooking the sweeping grass plains, acacia woodland and volcanic mountains of the Great Rift Valley, Shompole is a magical destination.

Each room is positioned to make the most of the views, yet still allowing for total privacy. Individually designed around the natural contours of the hillside, encompassing a fusion of quartz rock, natural thatch and local wood, the rooms exude a feeling of luxurious peace and calm. Water flows through the rooms into private plunge pools bordered by spacious sofas for relaxing.

For total privacy and complete indulgence Little Shompole boats two stunning suites with spacious bathrooms, large private pools, lounge, dining area, lap pool, dedicated team of staff and private game drive vehicle and guide.

Elsewhere, a shady lounge and dining area overlooks a long infinity pool and endless vistas. Here fine cuisine is served and cold drinks enjoyed.

Early morning walks are recommended as well as mountain bike rides and visits to see the flamingoes at Lake Natron. Night game drives are rewarding with sightings of the bat-eared fox, aardwolf and hyena to name but a few.

Alternatively the lodge's beauty therapist is on hand to pamper you and send you away feeling relaxed and revived.

Loisaba
Sitting astride the border of Laikipia and Kenya's rugged Northern Frontier District, the view of this private game ranch extends for hundreds of miles to Mount Kenya, the Lolldaiga Hills and the Mathews Range. The setting has changed little since the Great Rift Valley split to form the escarpment on which the range is built and elephant, lion, leopard, giraffe and zebra roam freely and undisturbed across the ranch's plains.

At once, luxurious and infinitely comfortable, the lodge blends effortlessly with its surroundings. Loisaba's ethos is to live and work in harmony with its surroundings and hand in hand with the local Laikipiak Maasai and Samburu community, working to preserve the environment and the wildlife that abounds there.

Manda Bay
Manda Bay Resort is a small private lodge overlooking the warm waters of the Indian Ocean on Manda Island in northern Kenya's Lamu Kiwayu archipelago. Surrounded by coral gardens, empty beaches and indigenous woodland, Manda Bay Resort is a glorious destination for either an active or leisurely honeymoon.

Sixteen spacious en suite bedroom bungalows line the beach circling the calm waters of Manda Bay. Sitting and dining areas are situated at the front offering panoramic views out to sea.

Enjoy beach and bush walks, dhow cruises, sundowner cocktails and candle-lit dinners under the stars. Its sheltered mangrove creek and the calm waters are ideal for water-skiing while just outside the creek there is generally enough breeze for sailing, wind-surfing and kite-surfing. For keen sailors there are a variety of boats at your disposal. There are also five motorboats on offer for sightseeing, bird watching or snorkelling in the rich coral gardens close to the lodge.
