Established in 1924, Kafue covers more than 11,800 sq miles and is the oldest and one of the largest parks in Africa. Remote and extraordinarily beautiful, it is bisected by two main rivers - the Kafue and the Lunga, both of which are perfect for water based safaris.
Towards the west and north lie vast grassland plains, which are classic wildlife country, while in the far north are the sensational, seasonally flooded, Busanga swamps. A delta in itself, the swamps are home to herds of red lechwe, sitatunga and puku. The birdlife is prolific, often endemic, and clearly visible.
The Bushanga flood plain in the north west of the Kafue National Park is a unique ecosystem, a flooded delta in the summer it dries to a small stream by autumn.
Kapinga Camp is designed to blend in with the environment and natural products have been used as much as possible in the construction of the camp.
Accommodation at Lechwe Plains is in 6 spacious, uniquely constructed tents situated in an acacia grove on the fringe of the Chunga Lagoon.
Lunga River Lodge, situated along the beautiful riverbanks under shady hardwoods, is truly remote yet provides all home comforts in well-decorated thatched chalets.
Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp is located in the remote and seldom visited southern sector of Kafue National Park.
Shumba Camp is situated in the northern region of the Kafue National Park, in the famed Busanga Plains area.
