Lying in the far west of the country, on the border with Botswana, Hwange Park is roughly the size of Belgium. Although this vast wilderness area of Kalahari sands, grasslands and teak forest supports over 100 species of animals and over 400 species of birds, it is the immense number of elephant, which congregate around the waterholes, that is truly spectacular. There are only a handful of lodges allowed within the park itself but there are many on the borders in private reserves with wildlife roaming freely between the two.
Another of the few private camps located within Hwange, Little Makalolo's game viewing starts right on the doorstep.
Somalisa Camp is set in the heart of Hwange National Park, known as the land of the giants for it's big elephant herds. Somalisa is an authentic bush camp, a blend of old African charm and elegance together with an exclusive safari experience.
Voted "Best Safari Camp" in Zimbabwe for four of the last six years, The Hide lies on the eastern boundary of Hwange National Park.
