Hotel El Tissure is very conviently located just a few blocks from the central Plaza Bolivar. The hotel is in the old colonial style and comprises 35 rooms all with ensuite facilities and has a breakfast room.

This establishment looks like a small palace you might stumble across in Old Castile, but actually it is one of Merida's most prominent hotels. Its name was inspired by the remote little town of El Tisure, in which the Andean architect Juan Felix Sanchez raised his monumental religious structure.

Nevertheless, the reason why this Hotel El Tisure stands out has little to do with the rustic style of its namesake, except in the stone and wood that adorn the facade. Located in the city centre, it is surrounded by some of the most classical examples of Merida's elegant architecture.
