Hatari Lodge consists of three buildings beautifully situated within acacia woodland allowing excellent views across to Kilimanjaro. The oldest building serves as a large central living and dining room. Here you will find comfortable relaxation and dining areas, where guests will enjoy the delicious five star cuisine. Sitting around the open fireplace, the owners will entertain guests with inside information on the flora, fauna and history of Arusha National Park.
The breakfast terrace at Hatari Lodge, bordered by sweet smelling acacias, offers impressive views of Mt. Meru and Kilimanjaro. A viewing platform offers the opportunity to watch animals from close by, and to enjoy classic sundowners, with Kilimanjaro in the background. Every day buffaloes and waterbuck feed here. Warthogs dig around in the ground or mow the lawn, waterbirds enjoy the swampy areas and numerous giraffes come to visit at the doors of the lodge.
Depending on the season, elephants make their way into the meadow, and on moon lit nights, with a little bit of luck, leopards, genets and civets may be seen. In the trees around the lodge, there are bush babies almost 365 nights of the year. A "Hippo Pool", a small lake inhabited permanently by hippos, is within walking distance.
Hatari Lodge offers 8 comfortably furnished rooms, each with an open fireplace and a spacious bathroom en-suite. Each room has been lovingly furnished and decorated in the modern retro style, giving tribute to the 60's and 70's - the time of "Hatari!" and the beginning of safaris in Tanzania.
