Fernando de Noronha, an archipelago, formed by 21 islands, with a total area of 26 km2 (10 sq miles), was discovered by Americo Vespucci in 1500, and was the private property of a Portuguese noble, who gave the island its name. It later became a Portuguese navy base, and then a powerful point for invasions for Dutch, French and English colonists. Amazingly, it was used as a federal prison and today is considered one of the most beautiful destinations in Brazil.
Fernando de Noronha offers stunning beaches, tropical vegetation, some of the best diving in the world and very comfortable accommodation.
Pousada Maravilha occupies a privileged position with stunning views in all direction over the Atlantic Ocean.
Pousada Ze Maria has 15 comfortable rooms, an infinity pool with a breathtaking view of Morro do Pico, and over the beach to the Atlantic Ocean.
