Fazenda Rio Negro founded in 1895 is situated in the heart of the Pantanal on the banks of the Rio Negro. You get there by air taxi flying over the wonderful scenery of the Pantanal. As one of the most beautiful and preserved areas in the Pantanal Fazenda Rio Negro is a hidden treasure.
They recently opened to Ecological tourism and because Rio Negro is so preserved, it is an ideal and natural "habitat" for rare and almost extinct species like "ariranhas" (big otters) that are found there abundantly, with luck you may even see a jaguar (brown or with spots). Rio Negro offers wonderful swimming, white sand beaches, and exciting fishing trips, where you'll can catch: dourados, pacus, surubins e pintados that you'll eat as part of your meals. Other recreational activities include horseback tours, jeep rides, boat trips, fishing or hiking, appreciating the magnificent landscape.
The Rondon Family has lived in Fazenda Rio Negro for more than 100 years. They have cared, respected and preserved the natural beauty of the house and area. Rooms are large and comfortable; they cater for up to 42 guests, each room with private bathrooms and air conditioning.
