Twenty years of travel beyond the ordinary
This month we celebrate two decades of innovative and cutting edge travel and we are delighted that over the years our ethos of providing high levels of service, backed up by a highly experienced and well travelled team of staff, remains the same.
In the early nineties we pioneered travel into several countries which, today, we take for granted. We were, and still are known for Central Asia and Russia, while some of our firsts include travel to areas of the Middle East,
often to countries where no other tour operator had ventured - including Iran, Yemen and Oman.
Today we continue to create classic cultural tours to less frequently visited countries and our staff have revisited Ethiopia,
and Kamchatka.

 Oman - Culture & Resort
Steeped in tradition, and a Steppes favourite since 1996. A short flight makes this a perfect family get away for winter sun. Snorkel or dive in the marine park and also camp out in the desert under the eastern stars.

 Bolivia - Heart of South America
James Armitage, now our Operations Director, set up Steppes Latin America over 10 years ago and first set foot in Bolivia 25 years ago. Emma has recently explored this beautiful gem which still offers an authentic South American experience.

 Mozambique - Island Paradise
Steppes Africa was one of the first companies to sell Northern Mozambique and Albee was one of the first to visit the Quirimba Islands. The diving here is out of this world with clear turquoise waters lapping the sandy white beaches.

 Bhutan - Himalayan Kingdom
Steppes East were one of the first UK travel companies to take clients to this beautiful and mysterious country and Nick Laing, our Chairman, first went there in the early 90's. With a country that includes Gross National Happiness as a top priority, it continues to charm everyone who visits.

 Kamchatka - True Wilderness
Having been closed area during Soviet times, it is now possible to access this untamed wilderness. Visit Inuit communities, watch bears and trek beneath one of 120 volcanoes that form the spine. Alternatively join one of our expeditionary boats Steppes Voyages.

 Zambia - Wild Africa
Tongabezi Lodge is also celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. Our relationship with this family run, award winning lodge goes back a long way - Albee, Steppes Africa General Manager worked there over 13 years ago! Tongabezi is located close to the dramatic Victoria Falls in Zambia, a perfect stop before taking a bush safari.
